Community Content Standards

Last updated: 20 October 2026

Beans Tech Ltd ("Beans") connects brands with real-world communities: run clubs, social clubs, film clubs, supper clubs and games nights. Community organisers ("hosts") deliver sponsored events, messages and content for brands through Beans. These standards set out what every host agrees to, how Beans reviews content, and how to report a concern. They form part of our host terms. Our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy apply alongside them.

1. How Beans vets communities

Beans does not operate open inventory. Brand content appears only inside communities we have vetted and the brand has approved by name. Before a community joins Beans we review its declared profile (activity, size, location, chat size), interview the organiser, review the community's public social presence and the purpose of its chat, confirm the organiser is 18 or over and the community is an adult group, and require acceptance of these standards. Communities with political, extremist, gambling, adult or discriminatory themes are not accepted. For each campaign, the brand and its agency approve the participating communities before anything goes live, and can remove a community at any point.

2. Standards for all content and conduct

Hosts, and any content produced for a Beans campaign, must not:

  • promote or incite hatred, intolerance, bullying or harassment of anyone on the basis of a protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010, or publish anything defamatory about any person or organisation
  • include material that is gratuitously offensive, indecent or obscene
  • threaten, incite or glorify violence, or support terrorism as defined in the Terrorism Act 2000
  • promote, endorse or depict illegal activity, drugs or weapons
  • feature sexual content, or depict alcohol except within the guidelines agreed for the specific campaign
  • carry political party content, political campaigning or material intended to undermine democratic institutions
  • knowingly publish false information, or present manipulated or AI-generated material as genuine
  • feature anyone under 18, or be directed at under-18s
  • infringe anyone's copyright, privacy or other rights
  • feature competing brands where a campaign has category exclusivity

Hosts must be truthful about their community's size, attendance and engagement, deliver brand messages as approved, and label sponsored posts clearly (#ad or the platform's paid partnership label) in line with the CAP Code and CMA guidance.

3. Brand content

Every brand message a host delivers (chat announcements, scripts read on camera, social captions, thank-you messages) is written or approved by the brand and its agency before use. Hosts personalise tone within the approved template; they do not add or change brand claims. Once approved, content is not amended. Where approved community posts are boosted on social platforms, they run from the community's own handle with the platform's paid partnership label and under the platform's brand safety controls.

4. Photos and video at events

Hosts tell attendees before and at the event that photos and video are being taken and may be shared with the partner brand, using the notice Beans provides. Anyone can opt out by telling the host. Anyone who is the clear subject of a photo or video signs a release before that content is used. Nobody under 18 is featured, and group shots that incidentally include children are cropped or excluded. Attendees can ask for content to be removed at any time via privacy@beans.tech.

5. Review and moderation

All photos and video pass Beans review before they are released to a brand, and nothing enters a campaign content bank or a brand's channels without that review. Community social posts are checked against the campaign brief before they are reported or boosted. Moderation is carried out by the Beans team; we do not use automated or AI moderation. A Beans support line runs on every campaign event night.

6. Takedown and enforcement

  • Urgent brand safety issues (hateful, illegal, dangerous or seriously offensive content): actioned the same working day.
  • Other removal requests from a brand, agency, attendee or member of the public: within 5 working days.
  • Feedback to the host on any removal: within 1 working day.
  • Hosts are contractually required to remove content from their own channels on request within the same timescales.

Breaches of these standards result in a warning, removal of the content, withholding of payment for the affected deliverable, or removal of the host from the campaign and from Beans, depending on seriousness. Illegal content is removed immediately and reported to the relevant authority where required. Any incident that could affect a brand partner is reported to that partner immediately.

7. Reporting a concern

To report content or conduct that you believe breaches these standards, email privacy@beans.tech with a link or description. We acknowledge reports within 1 working day and tell you the outcome.

8. Payment and incentives

Hosts are paid fixed fees for defined deliverables. No payment is linked to impressions, clicks, views or engagement, so there is no incentive to inflate reach or chase attention with unsuitable content. Individual attendees and community members are not paid.

9. Changes

We review these standards at least annually and whenever a brand or regulator requirement changes. The date at the top reflects the latest version. Questions: privacy@beans.tech. Beans Tech Ltd, company number 17113269, registered in England and Wales.
